HBC Update 9-5-25
HBC Update 9-5-25
Back to Basics
School has started back and people are getting into their usual fall routine. That should include faithfully attending your Church, and serving the Lord as He leads.
There’s nothing more basic than your soul salvation. Here is a reminder of “The Romans Road” to salvation through these simple verses of Scripture.
Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:13 For "whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved."
MAKE CERTAIN that YOU have followed His pathway, and you KNOW that your soul is saved and you are on your way to Heaven.

HBC Update 8-15-25
HBC Update 8-15-25
…If you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints. (Proverbs 2:3-8)
There’s a saying, “if you think education is expensive, try ignorance.”
God’s people are called to be lifelong learners, to be “renewed in the spirit of your mind”, to be thinkers, constantly learning and maturing in our faith and our understanding of the world in which we live.
We are told over and over to seek God’s knowledge, understanding, and wisdom, to learn, grow, and see the world as God does.
As we begin the new school year, may all of us, young and old, do our part to become the best version of ourselves we can, for the glory of the Lord.
After all, He deserves it, and so do you.
~~~
School has started back, and everyone is getting back into the usual routine. Please pray for our schools, our kids, staff, teachers, and for safety. Also, be careful driving, and STOP when a School bus stops.
~~~
We are still looking for a Youth Pastor, one of God’s choosing. Please continue to pray for this need.

THANK YOU!!! To all the great Volunteers who worked so long and hard to make our VBS a smashing success. God bless you for your labor for the Lord and His Church. We had about 40-50 kids in all, raised over $1400 for the local food bank, and one precious soul accepted Christ as Savior!
We have planted some good seeds in the hearts of those precious kids, and the Lord will bring about His harvest in His time.
~~~
Please also pray for our dear folks who are seriously ill; we have several. Ask the Lord for healing, and for His comfort for those who have little hope of improvement. Thank God that His grace is sufficient whether we are healthy or not. Pray also for the families and caregivers. Pray for them as you would wish God’s people would pray for you if you were in that situation.
HBC Update 7-18-25
HBC Update 7-18-25
Then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them; but the disciples rebuked those who brought them. But when Jesus saw it, He was greatly displeased and said to them, "Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God. Assuredly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God as a little child will by no means enter it." And He took them up in His arms, put His hands on them, and blessed them. (Mark 10:13-16)
Why do we put so much time, effort and resources into our children’s and youth ministries? After all, they can’t work in the Church, or even give money to our cause.
Why? Because “Jesus loves the little children…” and young people, just as much as He loves you and me. And what better way to build the Kingdom of God, and provide future workers and supporters for the Lord’s work than to raise up the next generations of Believers.
So we’re happy to build for the future by investing today in all God’s children, young and old.
And by the way, no matter how old and mature we become, we will always be, on this side of our Heavenly Home, God’s little children.
And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!" (Galatians 4:6)
“Jesus loves the little children…” including you.
Church Camp at Siloam Springs was a great success. We sent forty-two kids, eight adult Counselors, and a Camp Nurse. We praise the Lord for eight souls saved, some interested in baptism, and some interested in special service.
If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. (John 8:36)
What a great country we live in! Flaws and all America is, like someone said, “a Country so great even the haters won’t leave.”
As Christians, we know the Lord God has been very good to our country in years gone by, and we also know that our continued national prospects rely on the good and mighty hand of the Lord our God.
As we celebrate Independence Day let’s remember to say an extra prayer for our country, our leaders, and our future.
And remember most of all the Lord Jesus Christ who bought our true, eternal liberty on the cross.
May God bless America, again.
~~~
This Sunday is Patriotic Sunday. Be prepared to pledge allegiance, sing the National Anthem, and hear about our responsibilities to our Country as good citizens of both the U.S.A. and the Kingdom of Heaven.
Feel free to wear red, white, or blue.

Good Friday
What’s so good about Good Friday?
And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. (Colossians 2:13-14)
In the words of the old Hymn, “My sin, O the bliss of this glorious thought, my sin, not in part but the whole, has been nailed to the cross and I bear it no more, Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul! It Is Well with My Soul”, and that makes it a VERY GOOD Friday.
The LORD bless you this Resurrection Season.

HBC Update 4-17-25
HBC Update 4-17-25
But the angel answered and said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you." So they went out quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to bring His disciples word. (Matthew 28:5-8)
Our Lord and Savior has conquered death, Hell, and the grave, to win eternal, everlasting life for us. Thank God for such a Savior as ours! And because He lives, we live also. And that’s the true meaning of Easter. God Bless

And as usual, we were able to bless several ministries with the “leftovers” such as the Sheridan Nursing Home, Kathy’s Closet, CASA, and a Men’s Ministry. What a blessing to bless so many others.

HBC Update 4-2-25
HBC Update 4-2-25
Looks like stormy weather is here, and while many are filled with fear and dread, the Lord’s people believe that our God is still God over even the weather.
Here’s what young David said about it, as he looked and listened for his God even in the midst or a raging storm.
Give unto the LORD, O ye mighty, give unto the LORD glory and strength. Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name; worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness.
The voice of the LORD is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the LORD is upon many waters. The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty…
The voice of the LORD divideth the flames of fire. The voice of the LORD shaketh the wilderness…
… and in his temple doth every one speak of his glory.
The LORD sitteth upon the flood; yea, the LORD sitteth King for ever. The LORD will give strength unto his people; the LORD will bless his people with peace. (Psalm 29 selected)

HBC Update 3-7-25
HBC Update 3-7-25
For lo, the winter is past, The rain is over and gone. The flowers appear on the earth; The time of singing has come, And the voice of the turtledove Is heard in our land. (Song of Songs 2:11-12 NKJV)
Springtime in Arkansas can be tumultuous with severe weather, but I’m still glad that wintertime is basically over.
The Lord God knows what He’s doing with the changing of the seasons, including freezing, ice, snow, and all that winter brings.
But I still love the springtime. The first blush of tiny flowers in the yard, the swollen buds on the trees, and return of some songbirds… these make me giddy with joy. Early signs of spring in the earth remind me of early signs of faith and victory that sometime spring up in our hearts. There are sometimes long winters of the soul, issues that are unpleasant, or worse. But when the Lord answers those long-spoken prayers, when He turns the tide, when He brings blessing and hope and joy, it’s like early spring in our hearts and souls.
So, for the springtime of the soul we are giddy with gratitude, no matter what time of year it is. God bless, ~Bro. Johnny

HBC Update 12-19-24
And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger. And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men. (Luke 2:8-14
